We all have that perfect time to shine. Sometimes it comes in early childhood were we are the very best at a passionate sport. Ooh how sweet that attention from parents, teachers and peers.
Important life skills are patience, perseverance and confidence. Patience knowing that regular exercise leads to a healthy body, alert mind and in time they will shine. Perseverance leads to a gift of a superior fit body. Confidence to know that whatever the challenge for the day, be in running around the endless track during PE or swimming the long lengths in a chilly pool…they are fit enough to complete it. Being fir helps kids cope better with the world they live in and while waiting for their time to shine.
Children are beautiful and love having fun. Exercise is imperative and there is no way getting around the fact that kids today have to be fit. The more we move into our digital world the more we need to take time out and exercise. Even though your kid is not the best runner, part of the A, B or C team that is ok..its just not yet their time to shine. They will shine and when they do it will be because exercise in some form or another has been part of their lives.
Kids need to be led by example and encouraged. It is fantastic to see how many moms and dads are participating and supporting their little ones in various sporting events. What’s even better is seeing how proud parents are for their child just participating. I think they know that participation will lead to the child shining one day. Kids that are pushed and pushed will shine sure, but it soon they lose interest, pick up an injury too early and lose out on just participating, having fun and really coming into being.
There are so many tri athletes that only began at a significant milestone 40 or 50. They are shining its their time. Don’t push too hard and wait for you little one to shine.
